Here are highlights from one of our Childhood Calendar sessions this year – these two are already thinking of themselves as little superstars, and for good reason – how beautifully brilliant are they?

Childhood Calendar 2013 – benefits March of Dimes

As you may know, each year we photograph several children from around Atlanta as well as other states, to create the charity Childhood Calendar. 100% of the profits from this journey (gathered through session fees, voting funds and calendar sales) benefit a different charitable organization each year, one that is exceptional in its commitment to improving the lives of children and families.

The 2013 beneficiary is March of Dimes. We completed the first stage, the photography. We are now in the middle of the second stage, the voting, when you can help us select the 12 images (among the 25 candidates) to feature as months in the calendar.

At a dollar a vote, everyone can participate and make a difference. I am humbled by the support and goodwill that’s pouring in to this project! It’s a labor of love for me, and I happily donate over a hundred hours of my own time to make it possible each year, so it’s particularly moving when I see that you too are moved to get involved, by passing the word, participating, voting on the images, or purchasing calendars – THANK YOU.

I am always open to suggestions of charities to help in future years, especially if you have a personal connection to a certain organization. Also, the waiting list for children to photograph next year is now open, email me if you’d like to be considered (oana@shutterview.com).

Here are the 25 participants this year – the theme is the Joy of Living.

To vote or see the current top 12, visit the Childhood Calendar’s website.
