Celebrating love

1 atlanta exceptional wedding photography

Though I only take a few wedding commissions each year, I love every minute! I love the caught moments, I love the bride and groom portraiture, I love the special day beauty, always as unique as each couple I get to photograph.

Meg is a dear friend of mine, so I was extra thrilled for the chance to photograph her and William getting married in Murfreesboro, TN, just over a year ago (I told you I am behind on blogging!).

Enjoy this amazing imagery!

Two of a kind
{atlanta wedding photography}

I met Kate a couple of years ago, when she interviewed me for her thesis and for an article she ended up writing on my work as a volunteer for an infant remembrance photography organization. It was emotional, and I was even more moved to read her insightful piece when it was published.

Since that day, I remembered her fondly, and was overjoyed when she decided to hire me to photograph her wedding! I was excited to meet her fiance, since I thought her to be one of the coolest people I know, and was wondering what he would be like. They are certainly perfect for each other – the love they share is intimate and strong, and they share an emotional space all their own, of witty self-expression and inquisitive enjoyment of the world.

I am grateful to have been there that day, to photograph them as they got married and, my favorite, to witness their love during our hour-long wedding-day portrait session.

Whenever possible before a wedding, I love to encourage the couple to get away for a little while, so the two of them get photographed together, gently and unhurriedly, as they enjoy some time for a deep breath and joyful realization of the life ahead.

Thanks, Kate and Jon, for allowing me to witness your day – enjoy your imagery, and delight in your life together!

from the wonderful bride:

Seeing Oana Hogrefe’s moving body of work convinced us that we needed to get photographs taken at our wedding, period. We’d actually been on the fence. There are few other decisions that we’ve been so right about–aside from the decision to get married in the first place.

Working with Oana was an absolute joy. For one thing, she’s a true professional who takes the time to do things right. Oana met up with us weeks ahead of time to talk with us about what we wanted, to make sure that our expectations would be met, and to get a feel for how the two of us interacted. This made us feel like we were in good hands, and we were right. Who’d have thought getting our wedding photos taken would be so much fun? I’m one of those people who dreads having her picture taken, but Oana made the session with just two of us feel intimate. I have no idea how she does it. I really think that the rare thing about Oana is that she cares not only about getting good photos, she cares about ensuring that her subjects are truly experiencing those moments in which she’s snapping photos, to the fullest. It was incredibly meaningful to have that photo-session time with my husband-to-be–especially in that hour before our wedding. Both of us relaxed at once in Oana’s presence.  We had a memorable time, and as a result of that, and of her expertise, the resulting photographs were nothing short of stunning. Nearly a year later, I still feel a thrill at looking at them; they already feel like the dearest family keepsakes.
Beyond that, her communication was excellent throughout. She followed through on what she said she’d do, and delivered quality product. I can’t recommend her highly enough, nor can I thank her enough for her beautiful work.” -Kate B.

The beauty of love{atlanta wedding photographer}

Today we photographed a wonderful couple during their special day – complete with a parade, hand-made birdhouse decorations, and very moving letters Jon and Kate wrote and read to one another during the ceremony.

Their love and delight in each other was clear to all — here is a quick preview of the beauty we were honored to witness on this beautiful afternoon!

May your light shine brightly, as you enjoy the rest of your lives together!
