As we’re gearing up to start the photo sessions for the 2013 Childhood Calendar, I have lots of beautiful images to share from last year’s sessions. I’ll try to go through most of them over the next week.

To have your child be a part of this year’s journey, check out our casting call, currently in progress (link here, and official website of the Childhood Calendar here). 100% of net profits from the 2013 calendar go to March of Dimes! Sessions in May and July in Atlanta, and June in a few locations along the US East Coast (among them, FL, SC/NC, DC, NY, MA, NH).

The Atlanta sessions take place in May and July. This year we are also photographing at other Atlantic Coast locations in June – email oana@shutterview.com to enter and inquire whether we’ll be in your town!

Atlanta, GA, February 27, 2012
Oana Hogrefe Photography (www.shutterview.com) is delighted to announce March of Dimes as the beneficiary of the 2013 Childhood Calendar fundraising journey (http://www.childhoodcalendar.com).
Each year, a public casting call is issued and 25-35 children are chosen to be photographed (mostly in the greater Atlanta area) as part of this effort. Funds are collected through the session fee, the online voting for the featured month images, and the sales of the calendars. 100% of net profits are donated to that year’s chosen charity. Over $ 11k was raised through this effort during the past two years.

“We are grateful for the community involvement and for the generosity of everyone who participates, contributes or helps pass the word! We are beyond excited to be naming March of Dimes the 2013 Childhood Calendar beneficiary!” said Hogrefe, the owner of Oana Hogrefe Photography and the creator of Childhood Calendar. “March of Dimes is a particularly worthy organization, dedicated to bettering the lives of babies and mothers through support, education and research.”

1 in 8 babies in the US is born prematurely. March of Dimes works relentlessly to reduce the number of babies born too early, through research of the risk factors as well as through raising public awareness of the seriousness of prematurity.

“We are proud to partner with Oana Hogrefe Photography on this endeavor to benefit our organization,” said Sheila Ryan, Georgia State Director of the March of Dimes. “Preventing premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality is our priority and we know that the Childhood Calendar will certainly make an impact on these efforts to fight for stronger, healthier babies in the state of Georgia.”
